Abstract

Introduction: Intestinal obstruction due to a blood clot or hemobezoar is an unusual surgical complication.

Presentation of the case: We report a 63 woman´s case who, after a gallstone ileus surgery through an enterotomy, had a complicated postoperative with a bowel obstruction clinic. Requiring reintervention in which we observed a blood clot in the previous intestinal suture that was causing the obstructive condition.

Conclusion: The hemobezoar is a postoperative complication that we must take into account when making the differential diagnosis of the postoperative bowel obstruction in the postoperative period.
