Abstract

Introduction: Anorectal malformation are a broad spectrum of congenital anomalies with a challenging diagnosis. Dartos flap is one of the options for transperineal approach to the repair of rectouretral fistulae in adults.

Materials and methods: We present a case of a patient with a rectourethral fistula (RUF) that required interposition with a Dartos flap.

Results: The RUF was corrected with interposition with a Dartos flap with a satisfactory postoperative period until subsequent colostomy closure.

Discussion: The use of the Dartos flap has shown to be a technique with excellent exposure and ease of flap advancement with better vascularization and minimal morbidity as it does not require an additional incision.

Conclusion: The Dartos flap has proven to be a safe option with good results for the treatment of rectourethral fistulas in patients with a history of previous complex perineal surgery.
