APPENDICITIS IN SITUS INVERSUS TOTALIS: CASE REPORT
Abstract
Appendicitis associated with situs inversus is a rare condition with a basic genetic predisposition, with nonspecific symptoms that makes its diagnosis difficult, which must be approached in a special way, taking into account several factors that are discussed below to have a more detailed approach. safe. A case report is described and compared with the literature in order to determine the best management.Case report:16-year-old female patient with acute abdominal pain and a significant history of dextrocardia. In clinical evaluation, the patient presents signs of irritation, so he is taken to exploratory laparotomy with the finding of situs inversus totalis, an appendectomy is performed without additional complications.Conclusion:The acute abdomen in a patient with situs inversus totalis, is a clinical condition difficult to diagnose due to its diffuse symptoms, appendicitis should be suspected with a clinical presentation different from the conventional one.
