The documents that we present introduce us to some aspects of the salt trade of Eivissa that have not been studied in depth so far. Among others, these concern who the individuals and the companies involved in this activity were; the role played in this trade by the Universitat, or island's council; the management of this institution's debts and its payements with salt; the conflicts generated by this practice; as well as the procedures for the resolution of conflicts and the role of the island's governor as an arbitrator.
