Abstract

The cleaning, consolidation and excavation works at Figueral de Son Real have clarified a few aspects at the planimetric level, the analysis of which is now presented. The plan and a description and interpretation of the site were made known for the first time in the excavation report published by Rosselló Bordoy and Camps Coll in 1972, and those have been reproduced in numerous subsequent works. The observation of the structures and, above all, of the stratigraphic relationships that they have allows a rereading of the site that differs notably from the one known in the seventies. In some cases the observable evidences at the level of wall crests, structural surfaces or elevations are incontestable, but in others they are hypotheses that could still be contrasted with a re-excavation of the site. In the present work we have made the effort to distinguish one from the others, not giving as an archaeological reality those that for the moment can only be hypotheses that will guide future work. Finally, an open sounding with the sole purpose of dating the elevated central monument has incorporated a dating that anchors it between the 11th and 10th centuries B.C.E., restricting the proposal of other authors and in line with what we had ventured in a previous work.
