In the last years of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, Mallorcan painting underwent a change of direction with the arrival of painters from various origins who introduced new stylistic forms that meant the renewal of the island's plastic language, as well as the consolidation of the landscape painting as an autonomous genre. In this context arises the stay of pictorial self-reflection made by the local painter Antoni Gelabert and the traveling painters, the Argentine Francisco Bernareggi and the Uruguayan Pedro Blanes Viale in Palmira,6789 and which was a turning point in their respective artistic careers.
