No repertoire or detailed inventory of the real estate that constituted the portion of the late viscount of Bearn, Guillem de Montcada, as a result of the conquest of the island of Mallorca by the feudal lords (1229-1232), nor of the distribution that he makes between its portioners and beneficiaries. Because of this documentary lack, the Memorial de ço que fou de Gastó de Bearn has often been seen as reminiscent of that portion's repertoire. The present article analyses the two versions of this manuscript, one published and the other unpublished, trying to shed some light on its authorship, dating, content, significance and transcendence.
